Charity Music Festivals Promoting a Cause: Where are They?

According to recent research, over the past few years, younger music fans are attending more concerts and festivals than ever. As a matter of fact, attendance at these events has nearly doubled since 2014. On a positive note (pardon the musical pun), 80% of millennial music lovers are more likely to attend a festival or show when it features an artist promoting a positive change in the world. Music festivals promoting a cause are becoming increasingly popular.

For those shelling out cash for tickets expecting a portion of those proceeds to be given to charity, it’s expected around 10% of the ticket price will go towards the cause. That might not sound like much, but putting together these events costs plenty in time, energy, and cash in order to pull the whole thing off. On the bright side, after paying off expenses, popular, ongoing charitable venues raise tens of millions of dollars for worthy causes annually.

So while we’re looking for these great venues in order to support a good cause, where can we find these concerts and festivals? Here are some popular events, artists and bands coming together to help make the world a better place through music:

M3F (McDowell Mountain Music Festival) – Phoenix, AR

Along with the three “M’s” in the title, they support the three “C’s” representing community, culture, and charity. In 2018, M3F celebrated their fifteenth annual, consecutive concert and their lineup for Spring of 2019 is slated to include performances from:

  • Empire of the Sun
  • Odesza
  • Big Wild
  • Jungle
  • Kurt Vile and the Violators
  • Chicano Batman
  • Lettuce

Along with at least two dozen additional performances signed on to play. The event takes place over a three-day weekend from Friday, March 1st through Sunday, March 3rd with general admission and VIP tickets available for the whole family.

Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival – Tyler, TX

Music festivals promoting a cause are always a great way to spend your time and money, and this one is no exception. Sampling excellent BBQ, chowing down on good ‘ole western grub, and listening to some of the best in country music is an amazing way to spend the first Saturday of May in downtown Tyler, Texas. A portion of the proceeds benefits the revitalization of the town of Tyler itself. Members of the non-profit Boot Campaign will be present to raise funds for their charity benefiting veterans and their families, assisting in bridging the gap between military and civilian life.

Maryland Irish Festival – State Fairgrounds – Timonium, MD

On St. Patrick’s Day, they say everyone is a little bit Irish and the same is true for the Maryland Irish Festival held on the second weekend in November. Beer and animal lovers looking for music festivals promoting a cause will rejoice since there will be plenty of great Irish suds (can you say Guinness) and proceeds support service dogs and Irish dog rescue organizations, along with a multitude of other charities. While the main musical focus leans towards Celtic tunes, you’ll still find a plethora of other performances including a grand opening ceremony, cultural workshops, speakers, and Irish-related events.

Spring Into Life Music Fest – Phoenix, AZ

Brought to you by Triple Threat Productions, the Spring Into Life Music Fest supports suicide prevention and aids in bringing awareness to assist with mental health issues. There’s more to enjoy than music at this gig with amusement park rides, arcade games, a round of miniature golf, motivational speakers, and spoken words from various artists. There’s something for everyone at this event, including a fashion show with trending new styles coming off the runway for the next season.

If you’re looking for jam sessions and music festivals promoting a cause, check out some of these awesome venues. You may end up starting a regular tradition of attending some of these annual events with your friends and family. ROCK ON!
